Back To The Future Time Machine

Back To The Future Hoverboard – powered by Fliteboard

To build this Hoverboard we started from a fiberglass 99L Fliteboard that was cut into pieces using a waterjet by RTCon that we later reasembled to a shape similar to the Back to the Future Hoverboard :

To get the shape completely correct we 3D printed a border that gets glued to the board :

Once this is done we had the talented Alba fiberglassing the entire board :

As the battery compartment is now way smaller now we rotated the Fliteboard Nano Battery 90° and extended the power cables (thank you Corne) :

To hide the mast and bottom of the board we stole the mirror idea George Lucas used in the 70s to make the Starwars landspeeder fly :

This Amazon mirror film is actually very reflective and very durable, even after multiple flites in the ocean. The result looks pretty convincing :

To dress up the board we had the main texture printed (by Dok13) on a purple diamond shaped surfboard foam from AliExpress :

We dressed up the texture with this neon pink and green fluo velcro from Amazon. We used the same velcro to attach the green footpad, which has to be easily removable to open the battery lid and hide the locks :

So we ended up with the Hoverboard that actaully flies.  Below is my first testflite. I hope to fly with my Back to the Future Nikes and vest ASAP.
